- Mission Statement
Our mission is to support
community groups (primarily nonprofits) delivering
programs and services in jails, prisons, and re-entry and
to support the growth of additional such organizations. |

way to introduce civil society principles in prisons and reentry.

NC4RSO - Introduction
Community organizations
throughout the U.S. provide valuable services in and
around jails, prisons, and re-entry.
Services include preventative programming for high risk individuals, services for
incarcerated individuals (rehabilitative
programming, community connections, faith-based
activities, support for families of incarcerated
individuals, educational services, books for prisoners,
etc.), community re-entry services for incarcerated
individuals returning to the community, public education, etc.
While individual
groups provide specific services within the overall
justice context, the National Coalition of
Community-Based Correctional and Community Re-entry
Service Organizations (NC4RSO) acts as a national voice
on topics of common member interest and works toward
increasing community-based prison-related services
throughout the U.S. There
is strength in numbers.
NC4RSO - Who We Are
NC4RSO, as an
umbrella association for community
groups within corrections, recognizes the need
for communities to engage in making communities safe,
support tangibly corrective paths for current and formerly
incarcerated individuals, and to create/encourage community contexts
that reduce the potential for high-risk demographic
groups to head toward paths of crime and incarceration.
Individual organizations address specific aspects of
these topics; as a coalition, NC4RSO increases the number of community-based
corrections-related services, advocates for objectives
of common interest for member organizations, broadens
prison-related community engagement, and supports the development of topic
and/or region-specific corrections-related initiatives.
CREATING MORE HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, ENGAGING EVERYONE IN
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY WELLNESS
People want a safer, better
America – less gun violence, a country where no state spends more
on prisons than education, a place where people who are in trouble
can get help.... NC4RSO is one piece of the answer. We
increase civic engagement in prison and reentry solutions such as
mentoring, parenting and family reunification programs, nonviolent
communication, and local reentry initiatives.
